    Drive with Class

With pretty much every other car manufacturer having at least one hybrid car that is selling like hot cakes, Toyota had been missing out on its offerings. For some reason, their hybrid cars never garnered the same level of attention. All that is however going to change with 2018 Camry Hybrid and here is why.

    A stylish exterior:

In a segment that is crowded with plenty of beautiful cars, Toyota had to do something special to be noticed and they delivered. This is one of the best looking mid-sized sedans. The front grille is not the traditional fare and instead the sharp headlamps, large air intakes and the segmented grille come together beautifully to give the front a menacing look. A similar design approach is followed on the sides and the back. It is a car with plenty of appeal and road presence. The looks manage to tread that fine line between the modest and the outrageous. No design element is overdone and everything from the integrated spoiler to the tail lamps look just right. To be able to say that this is the best-looking car Toyota has launched in quite some time would be a major understatement.

    A roomy and practical interior:

The 2018 Camry Hybrid goes for function over form on the inside. The first thing that manages to impress is how much room there is on the inside. There is plenty of legroom both in the front and the back. Another plus is the 524 liters of boot space which is commendable for a hybrid car. The seats are nice and comfy. All this does not mean that the 2018 Camry Hybrid is a slouch when it comes to the looks on the inside. There is nothing flashy but there is an understated elegance to everything. The trim is great and the instrument panel with the 7" screen looks very modern and in tune with the times.

The spirited engine and awesome driveability:

This is another area that has undergone major improvements. The 2.5-liter engine produces a decent 131 kW while the combination of the electric motor and batteries adds another 88 kW. What is impressive is the way in these two components come together almost seamlessly. The electric motor fills in the gaps that come during gear shifts and other times when the engine is not producing any power to give a really spirited and smooth drive. This is especially useful and noticeable in stop-go traffic. Many petrolheads mock the concept of a hybrid but the 2018 Camry Hybrid is something that even the most ardent petrolhead will appreciate. It still retains the characteristics of a traditional gasoline-only engine but with fewer emissions and a smoother drive and better driveability.

The suspension is great at adapting to different driving conditions and this comes in especially handy if you feel the sudden urge to mash the accelerator to the ground. The EV mode is also impressive. As long as the car is running at low speeds, the car runs purely on electric power which thanks to ample amount of torque is great fun and the gasoline engine turns on only when more power is needed. This way the environmental friendliness is increased even more making the 2018 Camry Hybrid really good at being a hybrid.

The handling is another area where this Camry really shines. The responsive steering coupled with the traction aid systems really make cornering easy and fun. There is also a good amount of feedback allowing the driver to know how far the car can be pushed to the limit.

Overall, this a great option when it comes to driveability both from a driver's perspective as well as from an environmental outlook. A minimum amount of power is wasted without sacrificing on the fun elements of driving a car or passenger comfort.

    A decent infotainment system:

This is one flaw of the 2018 Camry Hybrid as it comes equipped with the bare minimum. The 7" display is decent enough and the analog instrument cluster adds a nice traditional touch but the entire system is lacking in features. There is no support for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay which in today's smartphone world is something that will be sorely missed. The 6 stereo speakers offer crisp sound quality but nothing to brag about. On the upside, navigating through the various features is easy and all the buttons and the screen look and feel like quality products.

    Safety gets a high priority:

Thankfully one area where Toyota did not hold back was on the safety front. There are 7 airbags, all the usual braking and traction assists that the competition offers, and a reversing camera. The Auto Emergency Braking or AEB is one of the most responsive in this segment while the lane-departure warning is a great feature to have during long drives on the highways. Pretty much every safety rating test has awarded it the maximum or close to the maximum safety rating making the 2018 Camry Hybrid not just fun to ride but also exceptionally safe to ride.

Good warranty and excellent value for money:

It comes with the industry standard of 100,000 km warranty. The car is built really well and the one thing Toyota has always been good at is making cars that can last decades even when used roughly.

The pricing of this car is another aspect that Toyota has got spot on. There is plenty of car for the price tag. It is one of the best driving and fuel-efficient hybrids out there. Aesthetically it is pleasing to look at and there are plenty of safety and driver aids to make this car as safe and reliable as possible. Backed by Toyota's rock solid reputation for build-quality and reliability and it can be safely said that with the 2018 Camry Hybrid, Toyota finally have a worthy contender in the incredibly competitive hybrid segment.
